Eiler's Way Remodel 2016
I had the pleasure of working with David and Janine Law (investors) and Rick and Leah Lofton (home owners and contractor) on remodeling a home in Wilsonville, Or on a gorgeous riverfront property. Our goal was to update the look without spending a fortune.
In
the kitchen and main living space, we decided to replace the tile floor
with an 8" white oak floor, replace all the carpet adding a chevron
carpet to the stairs, paint all the lower cabinets graphite and uppers
alabaster, add brass light fixtures, faucets and hardware and cover the
beams on the ceiling with a rustic wood facing. When I first saw the
house I disliked the fussy brown/ black granite countertops, but I knew
the cost to replace them and instead decided to work with them using a
gorgeous cement tile backsplash that appears patterned gray from a ways
away, but the slight brass/ gold tones pick up the browns in the granite
just enough to make it look modern and intentional. It was a bold and
lucky find that saved us thousands. My friend Shanon Edwards helped me
tackle the fireplace. We added a gray faux finish to the wood surround
and mantle that changed the whole look. We painted the interiors of the
fireplace built-ins in the color Granite by Sherwin Williams. The brass
Chevron fireplace screen that repeats the brass patterns in the light
fixtures is one of my favorite details in the house.

FAUX FINISH ON FIREPLACE- AFTER
The
office got the beautiful chevron carpet and we painted all the oak
cabinetry in white. I decided to leave the wood window frames as is and
the interiors of the cabinets maple which turned out to be a gorgeous
repeat. I love how clean and subtle the room turned out with the focus
being on the gorgeous view out the windows.

Our amazing Realtor Heather Robbins, helped us coordinate with Jewel Harwoods
who makes incredible live edge pieces. He agreed to showcase some amazing pieces like the dining tables, coffee table, entry bench and
office desk. They were absolutely perfect.
The
master bath was a great challenge. The shower was huge and had a ton of
white ceramic tile that also covered the tub surround. I knew the cost
to replace that 80's screen printed ceramic tile would be a huge
expense in demo and install. We decided to make minimal and influential
changes. I found a gorgeous mosaic tile to use in the
insert above the tub. One of the colors of glass tile in the mosiac
looked so much like the screen printed ceramic existing in the bathroom
that it really elevated the whole thing. It actually made the ceramic
tile look good. We added a herringbone install of wood plank tile and a
new countertop. New sinks and fixtures and hardware. Janine Law found
the sinks and went with this very different, unusual faucet sink combo.
We covered the beams with wood and added a new backsplash and we had a
whole new bathroom.
The basement bar got a whole new look. We took out the mirrors and bar and carpet and installed a simple IKEA kitchenette with refrigerator and sink. The floor is an LVT with a mixture of three different colors installed in a herringbone pattern. New paint and better LED can lights and the room is ready for entertaining. The backsplash over the kitchenette is a rustic ship lap. We used the same wood that we used to cover the beams upstairs and painted it a whitewash white. I also added a faux finish paint to the IKEA cupboards to complete the look.
BASEMENT BAR- BEFORE
The house was staged by an amazing company called On-Stage. They did a great job of going with my vision. I was thrilled with the furniture and rugs that they brought in.
The house was only on the market for a few days before it was snatched up by a lovely family.
It was such a fun project and a delight to work with such a positive, talented, competent team!
